Storytime
Ask an adult to read this story to you - while you perform the actions!
Jesus and the Sheep
“I want you to imagine you are sheep. What noise do sheep make?”
(make sheep noises)
“Now the sheep are wandering all over the room….
(move around room like sheep)
….and the shepherd called them by their names.” (call children’s names)
“The sheep can hear the master’s call and come running to the master”
(run to the storyteller!)
“Now the master ushered them into the pen, where he knew they’d be safe.”
(go under a table if it’s safe or go onto a couch)
“The fence was too high for other wild animals to get in and the master could see everything for miles around….
(put your hands up to your eyes and look around)
….so if any thief thought about stealing the sheep, the master would see them coming, which meant the sheep could sleep safely in the pen all night."
(pretend to sleep)
“The sheep loved their master and followed him everywhere….
(walk around the room)
(follow the storyteller around room)
…so when he talked to them they understood every word. Because they understood, he kept them safe.
So they grew strong and they loved him so much that they lived forever!”
“You see, Jesus is the Master, the Good Shepherd who cares for us and gives us the best when we follow him...that is surely something to think about!”
Now it’s time to get crafty!
What you can use: Pens, pencils, paint, crayons, chalk, coloured cardboard, craft sticks, scrunched up paper, scraps of material, dry pasta, cotton wool, in fact anything you can think of - just check you are allowed to use it!
Making Sheep Face Masks
Use paper plates with separate cut out ears, or cut out from cardboard, the basic shape of a sheep head. Ask for some help from an adult to cut out the eyes. Get some cotton wool and glue onto the mask.
Making Gates
You will need craft sticks / lollipop sticks, plain or coloured. If they are plain you could colour them first.
Using 8 to 10 sticks make a gate, sticks mostly going tall with 2 or 3 going sideways, put glue on sticks going sideways and press firmly. Once the glue is dry you can decorate with stickers / sequins / glitter or whatever you have available.
Make a Countryside Collage
The more imaginative and experimental the better! Use different craft materials to draw a countryside scene with hills and fields - remember one is to be for the sheep, trees and the gates!
Remember, we’d love to see your drawings and pictures of any crafts that you make. You can either put them through the letterbox in the manse or please get an adult to e-mail them to: [email protected]
Prayer
Doors, gates, windows:
These are designed to keep the 'outside' outside and the 'inside' inside
To keep us safe from harm.
Lord Jesus,
You too want to keep us safe
To shepherd us into your family
Help us let people know when we feel scared or upset
Help us to accept the help of those who love us
Our family, our friends, our church family
Help us to let them protect us
Amen.

To all our friends at Sunday Club
We’ve got some fun things for you and we’d love to hear what you think of them. Have you been doing any other craft activities, short stories or poems that you'd like to share? Have you drawn a rainbow yet? If you have we would love to see it! Ask a grown up to help you to e-mail them to: [email protected]
Below you will see the story called ‘Noah builds an Ark’. There is also a picture for you to colour in - we’d like to see that too when you are finished! Did you know that after the flood God sent a rainbow? I’m sure you’ve seen lots of rainbows in windows recently thanking our NHS for all their hard work. If you see a rainbow in the sky remember it’s a sign that God loves each one of us!
For our older children, would you like to draw your own picture of Noah’s story and send it to us? Also, here is a challenge for you - can you answer these questions about Noah? If you can, please send your answers to our e-mail address. Good luck!
Hope to see you all soon, take care, be kind...and have fun!

- Noah had 3 sons, can you name them?
- When the floods subsided, where did Noah’s Ark land?
- Why did God send a rainbow and what did it mean at that time?
Hope to see you all soon, take care, be kind...and have fun!
